Everybody Has Their Part To Play

Verse chords: Bm A G Bm
Chorus chords: G D Bm A

[audio:http://www.mulvenna.org/gerry/mp3/everybody%20has%20their%20part.mp3]

I was just a fourteen-year-old boy when Bobby died
Afraid to go to school that day, I was shocked and dazed inside
Fearful of the future in a sad and wounded land
The meaning of the sacrifice, I could not understand

Roadblock

4 chords all the way through: Em / Gadd9 / Cmaj7 / Am7 /

Is there a roadblock in my brain?
Secret harbour of some pain?
See the little soldier(s) standing in the way,
Red light circling just like the bad old days
Asking all the questions ’bout the things they need to know
Like: “where have you been?”, “where d’ya wanna go?”
Is there a roadblock in my brain?

An example of embedding audio in a blog post

I have installed the Audio Player plugin for WordPress, so we can embed MP3 audio in blog articles. Here are a couple of tracks from our “Rehearsal #2”. Just edit this article to see how it’s done.

[audio:9crimes.mp3] 9 Crimes
[audio:special.mp3] Something Special

The tricky bit is that there are complications on uploading large audio files to the correct directory on the server – it is best done using FTP.

UL gig (12 Mar 2009)

Gentlemen,

The date we’ve been asked to play at UL is Thursday 12 March 1.15pm to 2pm.

I know it’s a good bit away but can you confirm if this date is ok with you as I need to let them know asap.

This gig will be part of the ‘Of Our Times / Comhaimseartha’ lunchtime concerts held during the spring semester.

I enquired about getting this gig around the time the four of us did the Niall Mellon gig, I enjoyed that gig and the rehearsals etc and thought it would be fun to do a lunchtime gig here at the Performing Arts Centre, which is a great venue. I specifically “pitched” us as four active individual songwriters (not the Last Friday on tour!) in the Lough Derg region who play together from time to time. From their perspective, this is appealing as they are looking for an original song type of gig and they are also interested in the fact that we would perform together as a group, as they feel this would offer a lot of variety. So we would have to play mainly originals, I would suggest two originals each and maybe finish with a cover, but we could talk about this.

The first step at this stage is to broadly confirm the date, so if you can let me know asap, great.

They will probably need additional info for the brochure etc but I will let you know about that in due course, we could plug the Last Friday and SAMS here.

Talk to you soon,

Nigel.
